Dr Smith performs surgery to reshape the buttocks commonly using liposuction to decrease the upper hip area then reinjecting the fat lower in the buttock area for a better contour. This has been called a "Brazilian Butt Lift" in the press. This fat injection procedure is actually a double procedure with liposuction and reinjection. Candidates need to be near their ideal weight to see the benefits of the procedure. There is discomfort and serveral weeks of restrictions such as wearing a girdle and being careful how one sits. For selected individuals this can be a very nice procedure. This is a cosmetic surgery procedure. Fees are similar to breast implant surgery.

Cosmetic surgery is performed to reshape normal structures of the body in order to improve the patient's appearance and self-esteem. Cosmetic surgery is not covered by health insurance because it is elective.

The cost for liposuction of the waist with fat injection into the buttocks is $6000 (This is the usual total cost of surgery but may vary with individual circumstances.) This is a cosmetic surgery not covered by insurance. Patients need to be near normal weight with a range of 135# to 210# and be a non smoker and healthy to get a nice result.
