Meet Dr. Smith

Dr. Smith was born and raised in south Minneapolis and lives there currently with his wife and two young sons.  He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Philosophy BA in 1972 and an MD degree with Alpha Omega Alpha honors in 1976.  He was awarded a DeWitt Wallace, Readers Digest Medical Fellowship traveling to Madagascar Africa, Spring of 1976, helping in surgery for ten weeks at Manambaro Lutheran Mission Hospital.  He completed a full nine years of surgical residency, finishing the University of Wisconsin - General Surgery 1982, University of Tennessee - Plastic Surgery 1984, and the Microvascular Surgery Fellowship at the Mecom Microsurgery Institute in Houston TX until May 1985. 

Dr Smith passed his General Surgery boards in 1983 and Plastic Surgery boards (current) in 1986.  He has made several trips to Madagascar and New Guinea performing volunteer reconstructive surgery for cleft lip and palate, hand injuries and burn scars.  Interests are wife, kids, dog, church, boy scouts, garden, cooking, genealogy, sailing on Lake Superior and visiting far northern Minnesota.  Since 1985 he has practiced cosmetic-plastic surgery at the Southdale Medical Building in Edina Minnesotal  He mainly performs body and breast contouring and facial lifts using endoscopy.

Dr Smith has plastic surgery privileges at West Health, Centennial Lakes, North Memorial and Fairview Southdale hospitals.  Since 1989 most cosmetic surgery has been performed at our AAAASF Certified Office Plastic Surgery Center.  Dr Smith does only Cosmetic Plastic Surgery.
