As a woman gets older, there are several factors in life that cause changes in her physical appearance. One of the biggest concerns for many women is the loss of breast volume or shape that often occurs over time, whether due to pregnancies, weight fluctuations, or the simple effects of aging. Breast implants have proven an extremely rewarding solution for many women who want to feel like themselves again when they look in the mirror. Restoring natural feminine beauty and self-confidence is what Dr. Smith strives for with his personalized breast augmentation procedures.

How Much Does Breast Augmentation Cost?
Breast augmentation for silicone implants at Smith Plastic Surgery costs $5300 currently. This is almost always the total complete fee unless breast lifting is added. This may be paid by any major credit card, debit card or cash. We can accept part of the fee through a care credit card that allows up to 3 years to pay for the surgery. Please read our financing/scheduling page to save time and avoid wasted effort.
What Implants Are Used?
For safety we use only SMOOTH non textured silicone implants. (We have never used textured silicone implants which have been withdrawn.) We provide Allergan silicone implants. We never use saline implants which bottom out and will ripple, dimple and eventually suddenly deflate.
Textured vs. Non-Textured Implants
Textured implants were recalled in early 2019 because bacteria tend to hide in the textured surface which causes long term inflammation and chronic problems. We have never used textured silicone implants & pay extra for these special implants. There are no expiration dates for these implants.
We do not charge excess fees to impress. The modern silicone implants are like gummy bear candy with a soft semi-solid silicone gel fill for greater safety and improved shape. Anesthesia and facility charges are included.
When Is The Procedure Performed?
Dr. Smith nearly always is booked out about a month after payment and scheduling. He performs breast augmentation surgery usually on Wednesdays with a follow-up dressing change the next day. By Friday, our patients are usually driving to the grocery store or running errands. By Monday most return to work. This a quick recovery surgery.

Breast Augmentation Benefits
A desire for better cleavage, fuller breasts, increased self-confidence, and feeling great in figure-flattering clothing are some of the reasons women choose to have their breasts augmented. This surgery offers numerous benefits, including:
Decrease in breast size and volume due to significant weight loss
Age-related changes in breast size and volume
Unflattering breast shape and size due to genetics
Asymmetrical or abnormally developed breasts
Feeling self-conscious due to the appearance of your breasts
Pregnancy-related changes to the breasts including lost volume, loose skin, flattening, and asymmetry
Breast Augmentation Candidates
You must be in good overall health to undergo breast augmentation. Additionally, you should:
Be at least 18 years old (for saline implants) or 22 (for silicone implants)
Not be pregnant or breastfeeding
Have realistic expectations for the outcome of the procedure
Not smoke, or be willing to quit smoking before surgery and throughout your recovery
Have enough natural breast tissue to cover the implant
Types of Breast Implants
Dr. Smith offers numerous breast implant options, including:
Saline implants: Silicone outer shells that are filled with a sterile saline solution after they’re inserted into your breasts. Saline implants are more prone to leakage and rupture than silicone implants, but in the event of a leak, the saline solution is naturally absorbed by your body.
Silicone implants: These consist of a silicone outer shell filled with a silicone gel. Silicone is thicker than saline, so these implants have a more natural look and feel. They are also less prone to leakage and rupture. If they do rupture, they also hold their shape better.
Gummy bear implants: These are a newer form of silicone implants that are filled with a cohesive, form-stable silicone gel. They have a teardrop shape that more naturally conforms to the anatomical contours of your breast than traditional, rounded implants. They are also often textured, which allows the breast tissue to grow into them. This drastically reduces the chances of implant rotation.
Breast Augmentation Incision Locations
Your anatomy, choice of implant material, and goals for the procedure must be considered when selecting an incision type. Dr. Smith will recommend the one that best accomplishes your aesthetic goals:
Inframammary incisions: These are made in the natural folds under your breasts, where the scar is hidden discreetly. They also help preserve nipple sensation.
Periareolar incisions: These incisions are made around the border of your nipple, where the tissue around your areolas will conceal the scars.
Transaxillary incisions: These incisions are made under your armpits and result in no scarring around your breasts.
Breast Implant Placement Options
Choosing the right option for your breast implant placement really involves two choices: sub-glandular placement (over the chest muscle) or sub-muscular (under the chest muscle). Dr. Smith will help you determine the best placement for your needs:
Subglandular: This places your implants beneath your breast glands but above your chest muscle. Athletic women who frequently exercise their chest muscles may prefer this placement.
Submuscular: This approach may suit women who have less existing breast tissue or who want a gentler, softer curve from their upper chest to their breasts. Your implants will be placed behind your breast glands and partially behind your chest muscles.
The Breast Augmentation Procedure
Your choice of breast implant size, type, placement, and incision location will determine the specifics of your breast augmentation surgery, but all procedures follow the same basic steps and are performed on an outpatient basis.
You will be given general anesthesia and made comfortable in our surgery center.
Dr. Smith will make the incisions and place your implants according to your discussions during the consultation.
Dr. Smith will close the incisions. The entire procedure should take one to two hours.
A nurse will monitor you in the recovery room until you’re ready to be driven home.
What To Expect During Recovery
After the procedure, your breasts will be wrapped in gauze and an elastic bandage to minimize swelling and support your breasts as they heal. Dr. Smith will go over post-surgery instructions and provide prescriptions for any medications necessary. In addition to following post-operative instructions for caring for the incision site and keeping your breasts supported, some activity restrictions apply.
Any pain you may have for the first few days is typically manageable with the prescribed medications. It may take a couple of weeks for swelling to subside, but the results of your breast augmentation will be noticeable immediately.
Dr. Smith recommends resuming light activity levels, such as walking, as soon as you feel up to it in order to facilitate blood flow and proper healing. You should be able to return to work within 1-2 weeks. Within approximately one month, you will be able to resume most normal activities, including most forms of exercise.
Over the next months, your incision lines will continue to fade. You will have follow-up appointments with Dr. Smith throughout your recovery so he can monitor your healing and clear you for exercise and other activities.
